Star Wars Battlefront 2 PS4 Review: "Be disappointed, you will."

Patch Version:  1.18

Star Wars has a place in a lot people hearts.  It’s one of a few franchises that excites its fans the second they see or hear anything that is related.  So when Star Wars Battlefront was first announced I was excited, not because I'm a super fan, but because, having seen some gameplay it looked truly promising, until, that is, I found out it didn’t have a single player campaign.

This was a huge disappointment to me, and in truth, I only bought and played it because my friends were playing it.  I’m not a massive fan of PVP anymore.

BUT… when Star Wars Battlefront 2 was announced AND was going to include a single player campaign, I was 100% on board.

Mass Effect: Andromeda PS4 Review: "An enjoyable and worthwhile journey, let down by the lip sync and facial animations."

Patch Version: 1.10

Mass Effect: Andromeda is one of those poorly received games that I started writing reviews for in the first place.  Not to blindly defend it, but to give it a fair assessment after it had been patched to see if the issues plaguing it at launch had been fixed or if the bad reviews were even warranted.

So, is Mass Effect Andromeda worth your time and money now it's been patched and out for around 19 months?  Are all the serious issues fixed that made it 'apparently' such a 'bad' experience? Let's find out together.

Fallout 4 Ps4 Review: "An unfriendly and confusing experience that failed to grip me."

Patch Version:  1.16

Fallout 4 is a game that a lot of people are still playing, and considering it was released in November of 2015, surely this is a sign of quality to come, right?

Having never played the previous iterations, all I knew about Fallout 4 going in, was it is a post-apocalyptic first person shooter set in an alternative version of our own world.

However, after a brief opening cutscene that didn’t really grip me, the starting sequence was very slow.  Had I booted the wrong game?

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls PS4 Review: "A well-crafted, addictive game with only a few aspects that could do with improving."

Patch Version:  -- 1.26

There's something intrinsically appealing about jumping into a game having never played any of the instalments before it. There are no expectations for a start, but more importantly, I think, is being able to judge it through fresh eyes on what it does and not on what the previous did before it.

Saying this, don't think me a virgin when it comes to Blizzard games, oh no, I've served my time inside a few of their incarnations over the years.  So, having booted it up and watched the game’s opening cinematic, which, for those of you who don't know, blizzard normally excel at, and unsurprisingly, Diablo 3 is no different.

However, it is the next step that I expected to be difficult:  Which class should I choose?

XCOM 2 PS4 Review: "A fun and tactical experience."

Patch Version:  1.06

Having never played the first rendition of XCOM, all I knew going into XCOM 2 was that it was a strategic turn-based game.

The first mission guides you through the basics of movement and combat utilising a squad of two to get the drop on some enemy combatants.  The tide quickly turns though, and before long you'll find yourself on the back foot, especially if you do anything other than what is suggested.

I was impressed, however, by how XCOM 2 seamlessly switched from its top-down perspective to mini cutscenes showing me close-ups of the action.  A nice touch for sure.

God of War PS4 Review: Why is it so good?

Patch Version:  -- 1.22

Once in a while, a computer game comes along that challenges our conceptions about the quality and standards a game should aspire to. Too often do I hear the term next gen or AAA and scoff whilst heavily being sceptical. After all, what do people even mean when they say next gen or AAA? To some, it is just breathtaking graphics.  But it's far more than that, so much more.  A stunningly graphic game is nothing if the gameplay is fickle and poorly implemented, which is why whenever I hear people making such a boast I tend to roll my eyes, because as gamers we deserve a lot more for our money than some of the garbage that gets released and classified as next gen and AAA and sold as such.

Vampyr PS4 Review: "An ambitious, enjoyable gem with notable cracks and imperfections."

Patch Version:  -- 1.03

Before even loading into the game I'm presented with a couple of messages about the experience that awaits, the one that intrigues me the most instructing me that Vampyr has no difficulty level that I can adjust in a traditional sense.  Instead, it informs me that the more Civilians I feed upon and kill will make me stronger, in effect, making the game easier, but this will come at a cost.  Already I'm keen to embark on my dark journey.

Final Fantasy 15 PS4 Review: "A brave attempt to evolve, but ultimately it failed to resonate."

Final Fantasy 15 PS4 Review

Don't forget to follow us via Twitter or Facebook to be among the first to learn of new reviews and updates.

Patch Version:  -- 1.10

Final Fantasy 15 begins with its story’s title:   The Tale of the Chosen King’ Saviour to the Star.  It then cuts to a fiery battle between four individuals against some nonchalant god-like creature who sits upon his a-flame throne as if bored with life.

However, it lingers in this moment for only a little before it switches backwards in time.  This cutscene showing us a rather estranged goodbye between a father and his son; the king and his prince.  The Prince, the character you will be controlling: Prince Noctis.

The moment between them is very formal.  Tense and awkward.   The Prince's destination: Altissia, the capital of Accordo, where he will formalise the union of the states through his marriage to Lady Lunafreya of the imperial province of Tenebrae.

From there, the game cuts to our heroes who have broken down in their car and pushing it along the road; albeit begrudgingly.  The banter, the music, the cutscenes, the world… everything feeling very polished and beautiful.  This is definitely a Final Fantasy game!

Patch Version:  -- 1.03

Until Dawn begins with a message explaining the concept of the butterfly effect.

It then elaborates on this, stating that your actions, be it large or small, can dramatically alter the future, and as a consequence, shape how the story unfolds.  It then states that your story is one of many possibilities before ending with a warning.

The Technomancer PS4 Review: "A grand undertaking, which ultimately falls short in key areas."

The Technomancer PS4 Review

Patch Version:  -- 1.04

The Technomancer opens with a cutscene detailing the struggle that is life on Mars.  Explaining that since the Turmoil there has been unending wars, all of them fighting over the one resource prized above anything else.  Clean water.   The unfolding scenes then cover what humanity has become since Earth abandoned them: the unfortunates, forced to mutate having been caught in the sun’s radiation.  Everyone else, having remained similar to the ancestors of Earth because they were sheltered in massive metal shells, governed by water corporations, living out their lives in different districts and factions, overseen by rulers, politics, and religious fanatics.

It is then that we are introduced to the elite protectors of the people, the spearhead of the army, a group who all share the same special gift.  The Technomancers….

Patch Version: 1.04 --

Dishonored 2 begins with a black and white cutscene detailing the Empress’ death at the hand of a paid assassin who stabbed her through the heart, this all having taken place fifteen years ago during the rat plague. It then jumps to the present, where we see Emily Kaldwin (the new Empress) making her way to her throne.  The day is one of sorrow; the day the anniversary of her mother’s murder.

Along the way we meet your father, Corvo Attano, who also doubles as your royal protector.  We also learn that a murderer dubbed the Crownkiller has been slaying your political adversaries.  A fact that you and your father are being blamed for.

However, when an unexpected guest arrives requesting an urgent audience, things take a very dark and unforeseen turn…
